Decades of Experience

Donald E. Cameron, Consulting Geologist, doing business as Cameron Resource Consulting, LLC (CRC) provides geological services to the mining industry in the areas of exploration, database audits, grade control planning and execution, and resource estimation.  Holder of a B.A. in Geology from the University of Wisconsin (1974) and a Master’s of Science in Petrology, University of Arizona (1976), he has worked in exploration and mining geology for 45 years, performing various roles as Mine, Project and Exploration geologist, Chief Geologist and Director of Technical Services with companies such as The Anaconda Company (1976-1986), Asamera Minerals (1990-1995), Hecla Mining Company (1995 – 2005) and Kinross Gold Corporation (2007-2011). Since 2011, he has provided geological services as an independent consultant, principally to developing and producing underground and open pit mines in four continents.  Mr. Cameron, Professional and Licensed Geologist in the States of Idaho (PGL-1633) and Washington (#835), is a current Qualified Person for geology and mineral resources under, and subject to N.I. 43-101 through his Registered Membership in S.M.E. and QP membership with M.M.S.A.

“Nevertheless, his guiding principal is common sense as the paramount success driver.”

Mr. Cameron is currently the sole geologist in the company, although associations are made with other consultants and consulting firms depending on the requirements of the assignment.  Based on his experience, Mr. Cameron’s natural perspective is a miner’s view of ore deposits, and that includes a respect for the potential of the Earth to produce surprises, both good and bad.

Mr. Cameron has a solid understanding of current regulations regarding estimation and disclosure of Mineral Resources, reflected in all products produced for clients.  Nevertheless, his guiding principal is common sense as the paramount success driver. He has seen a gradual evolution of the economic geology practice over the course of his career.  Mr. Cameron’s recent talks and abstracts deal with some of the lost logic and art that has occurred since 1900 and new technology that can make mine geology more interesting and productive.

CRC  released the STOPECALCTM app for selective underground mine grade control in the early Fall of 2018.

Overview

Mr. Cameron’s career has included work on four continents in mine and exploration geology, due diligence efforts and his consulting practice.  The early portion of his career comprised mostly exploration and mining for copper and molybdenum. From 1987 – 1995 he worked with epithermal and orogenic gold deposits, but returned to a more diverse mix of precious and base metals after 1995.  He has been involved in key roles with some geologic exploration successes: Hall stock offset, Nevada, Carr Fork gold zone, Bingham Canyon, Silver Creek molybdenum deposit, Colorado and A-Reef orebody, Cannon Mine.  He was a strong advocate for Hecla’s eventual acquisition of Monarch Resource’s assets in Venezuela and Mexico. Mr. Cameron was part of the Bema Gold team that planned, constructed and put into operation what became by purchase Kinross Gold’s flagship mine, Kupol-Dvoinoye, Russia. Recently, he has provided startup support and grade control modeling to various clients’ operations in the U.S., Mexico, Colombia, Chile, Philippines and Namibia, as well as completing resource models, feasibility studies and PEA’s for North American clients.
